rightsizing how I engage online spaces

@ ,

This is a personal check-in to say hello to the world, as I have not kept up with my previous pace of blogging and updates. At its peak, I’d post something 2-3 times a week. Then the pace became once a week. And, as social media accelerated aggresively & addictingly, blogging went down to once a month. as we all watched how social took more & more of our online attention.

Then, this past year (2025) was a significant and notable slow down for my personal life, and that in effect affects every other part of life. Notable & noteworthy as I craft this blog post.

okay if I get more personal

I’ve always preferred a personal voice over a professional or corporate one. Not that anyone would want anything unprofessional or low quality. I do strongly prefer the personal & relational approach to everything. Though, I have come to learn, this is rare to find in how the real world works on Linkedin or in work & business life. Be that as it may.. all that to say, at the risk of posting a personal note here that may influence how a professional & paid opportunity might not happen, I’ll risk being honest over promoting all the professional services I have to offer.

recalibrating my life

With that caveat and disclaimer stated, now onto my personal reflections. This year 2025 has been bumpy, quite a number of ups and downs, more than mere mood swings. This meant slowing down. I don’t like slowing down. But for my health sake, I had to.

This included disengaging and disconnecting from social media and online spaces for weeks & months at a time. Life was very daily: one day at a time, one moment at a time, one breath at a time. By God’s grace, I am here. All of life is a gift of God’s grace.

I like calling this online spaces, much more than social media, interweb, virtual, digital, cyberspace. And these online spaces have made it possible for connections near and far. Most recently, I connected with someone in Boston who found me via Generous Asians. I’ve connected with distant friends along the way since 1985, before internet, back in BBS days. Real relationships that started online and bloomed into real friendships in person. Online and offline, a winning combo.

setting a pace, not

As for rightsizing how often I’ll connect with you and others in online spaces, it’ll happen less frequently. Perhaps even infrequently or only occasionally. I’m not ready to declare a set pace.

I have disconnected from Twitter, when it became X, and I exited. I may occasionally post on Facebook or Instagram. Infrequently here on the blog. Where I’d like to put my energy is the Erasing Shame podcast and Christian Asian Mental Health.

connecting offline and online

I do love connecting with people, online and offline, but the energy online is different & diminished. Embodied presence does matter a lot more and offers a lot more connection & vibe, potentially. Granted I’ve also had in-person relationships that didn’t get very far.

Much more to say, and the time I set aside to blog a check-in with you. Thank you for reading & staying connected.
