2017 was a very hard year for me, as I struggled through recovery after a psychotic episode in February. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2000 and have had to actively manage, with extra help required occasionally.
I’ve shared my story twice at Saddleback Church in 2018, once as a back story in the church bulletin (May) and once at a monthly mental health gathering (October). And, a 3rd time in February 2023.
In October 2020, I also shared a longer version at a church mental health online event, “When My Best Day Turned Into My Worst One.”
I hope this is helpful to you and someone you know. Feel free to share this and please contact me if I might be of help to someone who struggles with mental health or mental illness, or educate your community to help those who struggle.
And during the last week of 2018, we found out that this story was one of the Best Stories of 2018 at Saddleback Church—featured on the home page and on the back of church bulletin.
Plus, here’s a video personal update from August 2019 with a preview of what I’ll be doing with the rest of my life.
