video chat interview made easy

wetoku is making it really easy to conduct an interview over the web between 2 webcam equipped persons.. here’s my first run at it with Tom Roepke of student ministries. Tom blogs at and twitters at @samgamgee.

part 1 above, part 2 below — talking about moving from blogger to self-hosted wordpress and a mention about #thenines free online conference for church leaders on 09/09/09

The wetoku web app is in private beta, and I wish I could give out invite codes here. For now, you can get invite codes over at

[update: unfortunately, went dark and offline in Q1 2011, so this video interview is gone too; see my blog post How to stream and record video chat interview for softwares you can now use for recording video chats]

    Hi DJ! I'm Wetoku Dave, one of the founders. I'm glad you had a good experience with Wetoku. We've seen very substantial improvements to the user experience over the course of the past month.

    It's been a busy month… Guy Kawasaki was interviewed using Wetoku by @orchid8, and @timmyjohnboy from reviewed us.

    I have a soft spot for bloggers who write about their experience (good or bad!) with Wetoku… so I'm giving you early access to some of the upcoming Wetoku Pro features. This includes higher quality video settings (@timmyjohnboy seems to prefer the medium setting), and the ability to add a custom watermark logo in the top-right corner of the video in playback.

    Please let me know if you have any question!

    @davidyhlee & @wetoku on twitter.

    @david, thanks for building out Wetoku. It's something I've searched for months and wasn't able to find. I finally blogged about it back in June at… , and I've tried all kinds of "hacks" to try to record a skype video chat, and while the quality was okay, the effort to pull it off (on a Windows PC) was much too long for a 3-minute interview.

    So I'm very grateful for how the Wetoku will mature in due time! Thanks for the Pro upgrade, happy to give you feedback as I run it through its paces from here.

    DJ! So glad you were able to start flying with Wetoku. When I found it, I actually yelled out "DJ!" and my son kind of jumped and got scared! 😉 We'll have to wetoku soon!

    Hi DJ, lovin Wetoku!

    I was wondering if you knew anyway to be able to have the video stream show up in your RSS feeds, as well?

  7. djchuang says:

    @Kevin, I think embeds usually don't show in the RSS feed. So what I usually do is make a link in the text to the video, so you could single-click to watch the embedded video. Usually I remember to do that — I see that I didn't do that on this post 🙂
