today i officially turned 35,

today i officially turned 35, another milestone birthday, as some may say.. i’m not native born American, so i don’t qualify to run for President.. being a Monday night, and a Monday for that matter, i had a slow day at work and at home, mostly uneventful.. but we did have a good celebration last night with steaks and kabobs, with a good handful of special friends, sharing stories and sharing life.. that’s the joy of living, to have friends and family, people who are celebrated and diverse.. a few who couldn’t make it last nite did lunch with me, and that was also a nice time around the table.. in ancient times, life was lived around the dining table, and contracts/ covenants were made over a meal, and eating together had so much meaning and stuff, whereas in modern post-industrial cultures, fast food is normative, eating is merely functional, and people are losing the ability to cook (case in point: look at how many prepared foods are in the supermarket now, with all the ingredients, and alls you do is put it on the stove).. now for me, i enjoy cooking, and eating, tho’ i don’t ascribe all that much meaning to eating together.. i put my meaning into dialoguing and seeking mutual understanding..
