recently asked a good question: what do i look for in a church? for me, a dream church would be a place that fosters authentic community (transparent vulnerability in an open society with free information flow), spiritual formation (people know each other at a heart and soul level to speak into each other’s lives, and call out what God is doing), and holistic integration (being actively engaged with every part and every level of the local and global community), where everyone is not merely welcomed, but known and understood, conflicts are recognized as legitimate differences of calling that can be sorted out in the clear, and differing perspectives and are valued and affirmed, each person is heard and respected, regardless of marital status, theological coordination, age, gender, religious preferences, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or personality, and many other dimensions of each and every sacred personhood..
