My hopes for the readers here

Thank you for being readers of this prayer blog that are following along with my experiement in blogging for 30 weeks. This is my experiment in practicing praying by blogigng and also minimizing the use of Christian jargon that is hard for normal people to understand.

This is my prayer for readers of this blog, both current ones and future ones.

I hope that as you read this blog, you will be nudged and motivated to talk with God in your plain everyday language. God has made it possible and even welcomes you to just talk to him without having to have your act all together. You don’t have to go through some sort of initiation process or have a minimum viable faith to start talking to God; He will listen, simple as that.

Now, it’s helpful to know who you’re talking to. Well, not just helpful, but pretty important. That’s a basic of communication—know your audience. To put it simply, Alcoholics Anonymous starts with calling God the higher power. The point here is to start.

I’ll be honest with my own personal beliefs and bias. It’s only fair. I have found that the Bible has made the most sense to me as I think of the many options we have to deal with the metaphysical and spiritual realms.

From what I can tell, a majority of people do not have a great impression with people who claim to be Christians and the history of Christianity. Yes, there are terrible things that some Christians have done. There are also some great things some Christians have done. Looking at people isn’t the best place to evaluate who God is.

I believe the 2 best ways to get to know who God is and what he is like, is, to read the Bible and to get to know Jesus Christ. While Christians get mixed reviews, Jesus Christ has a pretty good reputation across the board from all peoples of all faiths and non-faiths. That would be my suggestion for you. Give it a fair hearing, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

From my reading of the Bible, the text even says that Jesus Christ is the best way to get to know who God is. I’m thinking of these texts, “No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is truly God and is closest to the Father, has shown us what God is like.” (John 1:18) “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. ” (Colossians 1:15) “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” (Hebrews 1:3)

So the first step is talking with God, believing He is real. And see what happens. I like to keep it real simple. And, when and if you’re ready, get some help from others who you trust to venture into learning from a gathering of people that are genuine and non-judgmental in how they are following Christ.

Many Christ-followers gather weekly in houses and churches. A few will even welcome good questions of curiosity; I’d like to think a lot of them will, but I’m mitigating with my words to manage expectations, because frankly the faith thing can be disappointing sometimes too. Faith isn’t easy, and neither is life. But I have found faith to be a good and helpful thing, and I can use all the help I can get.

Or, if you don’t believe He’s real, or don’t know if He’s real or not, you could start with a little experiment. I’ll talk about that in my next blog post. I’d like to think this experiment can be much better than binge-watching on reality TV shows for hours.

Thank you for reading to the end of this post. Appreciate your sharing a few minutes of your time with me.
