GodBlogCon session on emerging church blogs
I’ll be facilitating a GodBlogCon breakout session this weekend on emerging church blogs. This session will be on Saturday 11/15, 9:00-10:15am, on the campus of Biola University in La Mirada, California. In which building and which room, I’m not sure yet. I think they’re charging a small administrative fee for the map and location.
I am planning on doing 2 or 3 of the following ::
1. I’ll make an impromptu opening introductory remark of 5-10 minutes, with mention of these links at my website, for starters —
- Wikipedia entry for emerging church
- “An Exploration of the Emerging Church of the United States: The Missiological Intent and Potential Implications for the Future” – research paper by Aaron Flores (194 pages PDF)
- Planet Emergent – aggregator of some emerging church bloggers
- A Faith Revolution Is Redefining “Church” – George Barna’s press release for new book on his observations on emerging churches [ht: SmartChristian]
- Emerging Church MP3s — “What is Emerging?: A Conversation about a New Kind of Church” — Grand Rapids Theological Seminary hosted Talking Points, a one-day seminar designed for ministry leaders who desire to reflect critically about ministry in the 21st century. [ht: daveslisteningplace via tallskinnykiwi]
- postmodern breakfast food – remarks from Brian McLaren and Rob Bell one morning
- anewkindofchristian.com – official website for Brian McLaren, one of the leading voices (cf. my unofficial web page)
- McLaren doesn?t like the emerging church, but he’s giving some talks on the emerging church at his home church; MP3s are online – (#1) What is the emerging church? (#2) Missional, Evangelical, Integral; (#3) Artistic; (#4) Monastic and Communal
- Emergent Village – the organic organization facilitating the conversation
- What’s emerging in the church — a Reformation 21 article by Dr. Jeff Jue, a critique from a Reformed perspective, from one of my friend at that
- We Know More Than Our Pastors – a white paper by Tim “e-church” Bednar, describing how the Internet and blogosphere impacts our theology
2. Interview with Aaron “thevoiz” Flores, author of , and Andrew “Tallskinnykiwi” Jones (of whom I am under the impression, or illusion, will be there, in person), who is known to have done some high-level briefing about emerging churches around the world.
3. Open it up for dialogue, or “Q&A” in the venacular of most GodBlogCon attendees.
Also, Aaron “thevoiz” Flores will be doing a videoblog session immediately following at 10:30am, perhaps with a live demo of vlogging. And maybe all new material, too, rumored to be about the Spirituality and Discipline of Vlogging.
I dunno David, my ‘man on the street’ says you didn’t even recognize here when she waved to you:

Hey DJ, it was great meeting you at the convention. I was just trying to remember the books you and Aaron talked about. There’s Barna’s new one, and Bolger’s forthcoming one, but I feel like I’m forgetting one or two.
I should have your session recording uploaded tonight, let me know if you’d like me to email it to you.

sorry i couldnt make it – hope it went well for you and those who attended.
Hey, my comment is not pertinent to your post, but I don’t know where else to put it. Sorry! I just found your blog through a comment you made at http://intellectuelle.com. I’m a DTS student halfway through the Th.M. and a huge fan of Dr. Hannah’s wisdom and great teaching. He’s the best prof I’ve had so far. My husband is Korean and we are currently living in South Korea, enjoying our 16 month old son. You’ve got a great site here. Thanks!
Just to let you know i found this great place to make holiday cards. They are usually like $20 but free if you click on this link. I am going to put my christmas letter and favorite recipe in them for christmas cards this year. If your interested
