Global AIDS Summit at Saddleback
I’m gonna drop by Saddleback Church this afternoon, where the 3rd annual global summit on AIDS is already under way.
My friend Steve Knight tells me that there were over 200 media passes issued for this event. Will meetup for lunch with him, and plan to mingle and meet other church leaders at the venue.
So far, there are 30 news articles according to news.google.com, including this article at OC Register, Saddleback pastor calls leadership key to defeating AIDS, with live updates.
Amy Stevens (of OC Register) is live blogging from Saddleback about the AIDS summit. Other bloggers who are there include:
- Tony Steward, cf. 5 traits of real leaders
- someone from North Park Church Young Adults
- Laurie and Jay of MyCommonPlace.com
- and, Frank Pastore wrote this piece for crosswalk.com (who has the world record for fastest finish of the 72 oz steak dinner at Big Texan)
- [update] see video of Hillary Clinton getting on stage at Saddleback, meeting Rick Warren, and explaining her visit
I heard Hillary speak this afternoon. You can check out my thoughts at:

Karl, thanks for stopping by with a link to your comments. Glad you’re enjoying the conference, and as the nature of conferences are, networking is what people can do during breaks, meal times, and times before and after the program portion.
Hey DJ,
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on your blog before, but I’ve followed it from time to time over my years in NYC and I noticed you just moved to OC – congrats! I’m a socal boy myself but I’ve been on the east coast eleven years.
I happened to be at the SoCal Cohort blog trying to get them to get some footage of any of their upcoming cohort events for the video we’re putting together over at Emergent Village – so if you happen to show up bring your cellphone cam or digial camera in video mode and get some cohort footage!
I’ve always been fascinated by your dual Emergent and Keller interests…it is a great game to watch which way he’s going to go…he told me he doesn’t adapt to change quickly…but I think he’s going to eventually realize that keeping women off the elder board is an untenable position and that will lead to his meltdown! (meaning becoming more pro-emergent…hope he’s not reading this).
