lunching, theologizing, contexualizing

I just lunched with Stephen “faithmaps” Shields at Sierras Grill (in an obscure rural location near the I-495 & I-95, Maryland’s own quasi- mixing bowl). Delicious food and great company! And like good bloggers, and to make good on my “I’m blogging this” t-shirt, we chatted briefly about the latest blogosphere buzz (on penal substitution), leadership development in the lowering cost of information age, and a few confidential off-the-record things too.

David “Next Gener.Asian Church” Park transcribed some key sound bites from Tim Keller for making a case for contextualizing, not only for postmodern shifts, but also for ethnic and racial contexts. (One of) his interest and mine is to see more contextualizing for the Asian American context. 2 resources to mention:

And, I’m almost finished with editing a book for L² Foundation to be titled “Reflections on Asian American Theologies”, which will be published and available by November 2006. This book will present 6 reflections from young Asian American theologians, exploring what a contextualized Asian American theology (or theologies) would look like.
