I just lunched with Stephen “faithmaps” Shields at Sierras Grill (in an obscure rural location near the I-495 & I-95, Maryland’s own quasi- mixing bowl). Delicious food and great company! And like good bloggers, and to make good on my “I’m blogging this” t-shirt, we chatted briefly about the latest blogosphere buzz (on penal substitution), leadership development in the lowering cost of information age, and a few confidential off-the-record things too.

David “Next Gener.Asian Church” Park transcribed some key sound bites from Tim Keller for making a case for contextualizing, not only for postmodern shifts, but also for ethnic and racial contexts. (One of) his interest and mine is to see more contextualizing for the Asian American context. 2 resources to mention:

IVP has just celebrated its 3rd printing of “Losing Face, Finding Grace“, the first Asian American Bible Study guide which focuses on common Asian American discipleship issues of self-esteem, family, perfectionism, etc. Over 10,000 copies have been sold, but we would like more churches to find this valuable resource. So for a limited time, author Tom Lin will offer a 60% discount on bulk orders of 10 or more ($2.80 each). If interested, simply order via emailing losingface@gmail.com . The regular price is $7.00. For more information on the book: http://www.ivpress.com/cgi-ivpress/book.pl/code=1684 .

And, I’m almost finished with editing a book for L2 Foundation to be titled “Reflections on Asian American Theologies”, which will be published and available by November 2006. This book will present 6 reflections from young Asian American theologians, exploring what a contextualized Asian American theology (or theologies) would look like.
