Actually, Tim Keller says that Jesus was neither liberal nor conservative, Jesus is beyond that; and I’ve also heard him say that Jesus was more liberal than the liberals, and more conservative than the conservative.
hehe, we’re always trying to bring God into the political process. My dad’s a lifelong Republican, and he was listing all these reasons to vote for Bush, and lastly he adds, “Bush is a Christian.” Hehe, I think my dad thinks that all good Republicans are Christians and the Democrats, well, he doesn’t want to talk about those heathens… What I think is that God’ll keep on being God no matter who gets elected.
more liberal and more conservative. i forget where i read it, but Jesus is conservative because of His holiness, liberal because of His mercy – with both sides kinda circling one another instead of being fixed points on a line. something like that is what we need to aim for, too, i think.
I know this is an old post, but I just stumbled across it. When it comes to Jesus, I think most people would agree (even if it’s in secret) that Jesus can’t be lumped into a political party.
That said, TODAY’S Democrats are an anti-Christ party. And Liberals are leading the pack. It’s impossible as a follower of Christ to support the current leadership of the Democratic party without supporting policy that violates Scripture.
