spirituality in the real world

just got via amazon.com a copy of Paul Tokunaga’s new book, Invitation to Lead: Guidance for Emerging Asian American Leaders, highly recommended, and not only b/c there are so few Asian American Christian books + authors.. (even tho’ a large %%age of Asian Am’s are highly educated, high median family income, lots of good statistics to bias a model minority stereotype.. there’s been quite the challenge to translate the accomplishments of the successful ones to benefit the struggling ones, of which there are numbers of actual people who do need advocacy, resources, + support.. and on the whole, Asian spirituality doesn’t readily translate into getting involved with the lives of others, be it to lead, or to lend help.. okay, this is turning into a rant, so be it..)

That’s interesting, never really thought about that as a pretty plain american white boy.

The whole Asian thing of not wanting to rock the boat or interfere too much in other peoples’ business (funny how the old aunties don’t worry about that, though) is changing, I think. The younger generation – mine – is getting more “westernised”, as the Malaysian govt likes to say. I see people being much more open now compared to before.
