made a day trip to Southern Maryland today (Lexington Park, to be exact, via Rt. 4 and Solomons Island), where I used to live 10 years ago; saw a few old faces at church (SAYSF Bible Church), where ministries are still going on strong, and visited with my discipler, who I first met online (back in the BBS days), and a co-worker too (and his wife and kids).. it was a fun time to hang out.. didn’t have any particular pensive thoughts on the way there and back, so this is a non-pensive entry; the preacher shared from Mark 10 about the rich young ruler who had a hard time giving away his money, and I thought to myself– it is very hard to preach about money, particularly in 1 Tim 6:10, one translation says, “the love of money is the root of all evil”, while another says, “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil”.. and this connotes to me a big difference!! but in either case, the love of money that we’re warned about as having the probability and likelihood of increasing our temptation to do evil, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we are to avoid money, becoming stoics or misers who never use money.. it cannot mean that people who have the ability to make money are any more prone to evil than those who don’t make much, for both can love money.. or both can know how to manage money as a resource that God gives for accomplishing tasks and things in His kingdom…
